The numerous initiatives and events in the seaside capital continue, which this year mark the great anniversary – 100 years of Varna as a seaside resort. The rich program of the Municipality of Varna throughout the year complements the history of tourism, which began on June 10, 1921, when the city was officially declared a seaside resort. A festive concert, an anniversary album, performances, competitions, thematic walking tours, online games, a validated postage stamp, etc., are just some of the dozens of events with which the people of Varna, their friends and tourists are celebrating the centennial anniversary. Among them is another unique virtual walk, realized according to the idea of Varna artists.
The Association for Advertising and Communications in Tourism (AACT) and the famous photographer-artist Rosen Donev, created a virtual 360-degree walk through some of the sights of Varna on the occasion of the anniversary. During a pandemic and difficult visits by tourists to the beautiful city, the digitization of cultural and historical heritage takes on a key role. The beautiful photos of the filmed objects, the creative approach to the subject and the in-depth knowledge of the city and its unique heritage have turned the virtual walk into a gateway to the history, past and museums of the seaside capital.
The creators of the project have included famous objects that are among the most famous historical and cultural landmarks in Varna:
• Drama Theater and Opera "Stoyan Bachvarov"
• Cathedral "Holy Assumption of the Virgin Mary"
• Temple "Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker"
• Roman Baths
• Aquarium
• Regional History Museum - Varna
• Ethnographic Museum
• Museum of the Bulgarian Renaissance
• Museum of History of Varna
• City Art Gallery
• Festival and Congress Center - Varna
Visitors should turn around in front of the buildings and enter to view their interiors on the website: https://visitvarna360.com/
In numbers, the project includes: filmed objects - 11; 360-degree exterior and interior panoramas – 65; generated files for the entire product – 27,300. The photographer-artist Rosen Donev managed to capture and process all the captured panoramas within one month.
