The monograph "MONITORING THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF A SEASIDE TOURIST DESTINATION" presents significant theoretical and empirical approaches concerning both the sustainable development of tourism and its monitoring in maritime tourist destinations. The main thesis in the monographic work is that monitoring is a systematic and permanent process of data collection and interpretation, integrated in the management of tourist sites. The implementation of the process is necessary and useful in order to objectify the assessment of the sustainable development of the destinations. The research goal in the development is an assessment of the harmonious development of tourism in the regions of Dobrich, Varna and Burgas. On the basis of the assessment made, opportunities are determined for optimizing the monitoring process in a maritime destination, by studying its features, specific tools and information provision. The authors of the monographic work present a qualitative study based on a scientific-theoretical approach. Its choice is justified by the status and nature of the secondary data on the status of monitoring the sustainable development of a maritime destination, which is the main and direct subject of research in a limited number of scientific publications. In the development, a systematic and interdisciplinary approach was applied to determine the structure and elements of the tourist destination, the internal and external connections between them, affecting its management and sustainable development. Results of Bulgarian and international research are presented, as well as good practices in the monitoring of sustainable tourism at sea destinations.
